Concert series
Lower Saxony Festival of Jewish Music 2010
200 Years of Synagogue Organs
under the patronage of
the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony
Christian Wulff
200 years ago, in Seesen in the Harz Mountains, the synagogue organ began its victory march, which came to an abrupt end with the Pogrom Night of 1938.
To mark this anniversary, "200 Years of Synagogue Organs", the newly-founded European Synagogal Choir, led by Professor Andor Izsák, embarks on a journey and - accompanied by the organ - brings the music of the synagogue to many towns and cities in Lower Saxony and Germany.
The series of concerts started
with the opening concert in the Braunschweig State Theatre
on 8 March 2010.
